It was a foggy night that was eerily reminiscent of Halloween instead of Thanksgiving, but beautiful nonetheless.

It wasn’t your typical Web 2.0 event however, which I can honestly say was refreshing. The dimly lit room was rich with conversation instead of deals, startups or financing.

The party was hosted by Tim Ferriss, author of best selling book The Four Hour Work Week, to say thank you for those who helped with his recent LitLiberation project.

LitLiberation was an ambitious project led by Ferriss that featured some of the world’s most successful and popular leaders in technology, media, and the blogosphere to conduct the largest online literacy experiment to date.

In conjunction with DonorsChoose.org and RoomToRead, LitLiberation made a run at raising $1 million in 30 days, and in the process, help educate children all over the world.

The intimate private party was dubbed the “Worlds Colliding Thanksgiving Party” and it was held on a fully functional WWII warship in at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The modified lighting and decor was a cross between The Hunt for Red October and Bladerunner and it made it incredibly difficult to get some great shots – but I did my best.

The party was attended by Tim’s friends from around the world and different worlds (TV, film, publishing, blogging, sports, education, tech, etc.) to celebrate together. Invitees include tech folks , top UFC fighters ( www.ufc.tv), new media stars, rally racing champions, and supposedly even a movie star or two.

While I wasn’t able to photography everyone, I did catch up with other notable people with whom I enjoyed incredible conversations. Believe it or not, I had yet to meet Violet Blue, but that all changed at this party. What an incredible pleasure it was to meet her. I’m a big fan…

I also caught up with Scott Beale of Laughing Squid, Tom Foremski of Silicon Valley Watcher, and Min Jung (MJ) Kim and Jason Hoffman (their wedding is only three weeks away!).

It’s great to see these pictures and this ship. In 1994 I worked on a big PR project for this ship. Ut was a merchant marine vessel that crossed brought all sorts of deliveries the day right after D-Day. Some of the original crew attended.

The media like the idea of this because it wasn’t specifically military, but they were doing military tasks. Lots of ships were sunk and lots of merchant mariners died.

Well done Brian (and Megan). Maybe we’ll finally meet in person at the Advanced PR Tech event coming up.

Great party! Wow! Sorry I missed that! We do work with the Jeremiah O’Brien and so was thrilled to see you’d used it as a party/special event space.

    happy holidays!
