PhysicsX, a generative AI startup aiming to transform engineering across industries, has raised €29 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by General Catalyst and included participation from Standard Industries, NGP Energy, Radius Capital, and KKR co-founder Henry Kravis.

The new capital will support PhysicsX’s growth in customer delivery, product development, and fundamental research. Specifically, it will help the company expand as an engineering partner, build out its product engineering division, and advance its AI models and methods.

Joining PhysicsX’s board is General Catalyst executive-in-residence Jim Baum, who brings over 25 years of experience growing and managing technology companies. Jeremy Palmer, former Chairman and CEO of QuantumBlack and a McKinsey senior partner, will come on as Chairman.

Larry Bohn, General Catalyst managing director, noted PhysicsX’s potential to expand engineering capabilities in crucial industries. He believes the company is poised to create a category-defining business in advanced sectors.

Having built AI systems that dramatically quicken accurate physics simulation, PhysicsX aims to enable generative engineering solutions and streamline time-intensive engineering processes. Its digital tools promise new optimization opportunities for engineering, manufacturing, and operations involving complex machinery.

Founded by Robin Tuluie and Jacomo Corbo, PhysicsX has over 50 experts across simulation engineering, machine learning, and data science. Its team has experience in areas like Formula One racing. For three years, the startup has partnered with major engineering and manufacturing organizations to address critical challenges.

Co-founder and co-CEO Tuluie compared the move from numerical simulation to deep learning as similarly revolutionary. He noted that PhysicsX looks to help drive and enable this engineering transformation by giving industry innovators new capabilities for real-world deployment.

Overcoming fundamental bottlenecks in deploying efficient, advanced technologies is critical for accelerating sustainability efforts. PhysicsX seeks to address hurdles like slow physics simulation, discordance between virtual and real-world testing, and design optimization limitations. Its AI solutions offer new potential for innovation across industries like automotive, aerospace, and materials.
