YourTrumanShow publicly previewed VideoMap at DEMOFall 07 and then went into private Alpha for further development.
The company officially released VideoMap, a unique, video-based socialgraph supporting content from Youtube and YourTrumanShow (and others soon) within Facebook. This is less about “another Facebook app” and more about what YourTrumanShow enables through its new platform.
It adds a new dimension to the web by enabling online video enthusiasts to visually discover and share content and connect with friends across popular social networks from inside the embeddable widget – wherever the videos reside on the Web.

In Facebook, VideoMap displays a graphical video relationship map that lets users see who links to them and who they link to as well as the video content they have collected.
Users can populate the map with Facebook friends, as well as tracking favorite YouTube channels.
As people hop across other videos, a graphically rich visual map tracks the path of discovery, relationships, and content.
In addition, VideoMap features a search tool to find related content and an innovative “Who has this video” feature displays who else has added it to their collection. YourTrumanShow’s patent-pending social search engine analyzes the collections of users who share a particular video to find other relevant content and recommend it, replacing the need for meta-data and tag-based indexing.
VideoMap implements YourTrumanShow’s algorithm (provisional patent) that analyzes users’ collections to identify virtual communities of shared interests and find relevant content – all within Facebook.
