It was a busy night on the tech party circuit – seven parties, and we’re talking about a weeknight here.
As I’ve been saying, with Bubble 2.0, Monday is the new Friday, and to be honest, if we didn’t have a team behind bub.blicio.us, I’m not quite sure how any one person could live like a rock star while trying to cover everything.

I started the night at the MingleNow launch party and the roster included SF Beta, Vast.com, San Francisco NewTech Meetup, and SF Station 10th anniversary party.
Stowe Boyd, Greg Narain, Nandor Fejer, Julia French, Ann Crane, Adriana Gasciogne, and a few other tech diplomats migrated from MingleNow over to Yelp. We were greeted by a line of Yelpers just hoping to get in.

Some of the previous Yelp.com parties have included gorgeous dancers on bars encouraging belly shots, while others inspired women to spontaneously make out with one another. This event had a lot to live up to, if judging by those standards.
Held at the California Academy of Sciences, The event was inflated by enthusiasm and legitimized by hundreds of users, bloggers, influencers and even a traditional journalist or two. Honestly, this event had little to do with 2.0 and more to do with what 2.0 has given to the community of users that share their experiences with Yelp and other Yelp.com users.

But needless to say, this event was far too well lit and packed with internet citizens to be enjoyable – but it was most definitely bub.blicio.us. From top to bottom, this event was packed with beautiful, young people looking to meet other Yelp.com users. It was like a real-world Myspace convention.

With so many guests, I found it almost dizzily impossible to speak with anyone other than to say, “hey” and then move on.
I did however, catch up with Irina Slutsky of Podtech’s GETV, Joel Sacks and James Yu of BuzzShout, Megan McCarthy of ValleyWag, Lo Toney from Art.com, Angel Investor Ben Wan, and Ms. Ortiz of CNET.

We snapped some great shots, worked our way through a maze of thirsty yelp die-hards for just one drink, and just as we were about to start to settle in, the lights flickered on and off signaling the end of the party.

Well, I guess it was time to go. If we were a bit more diligent, perhaps we would have sent a crew to the Pre and Post Yelp.com parties to get the real scoop. Alas, there were more parties to attend.
One last parting thought…while the party scene may seem shallow, keep in mind, that many of the stars on the 2.0 event set are the evangelists for the new tech economy. Their efforts and enthusiasm is highly contagious and there’s no sign of slowing down.
