Last week, the Web 2.0 Expo was held at the Moscone center. What that really means is a week full of crazy tech parties full of open bars and free food! Brian has introduced some of the events/parties that took place but before I cover some of the parties I attended, I will cover the event itself first.

A packed house for Gavin Bell‘s “Web Site Psychology” presentation.

Tim O’ Reilly,Founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media, Inc.

Part of the Keynote, A conversation with Max Levchin, Founder of Slide.

The Web 2.0 expo featured some well known companies promoting some of the things that they are currently doing in the web 2.0 hemisphere.  The expo also introduced some interesting as well as not so interesting companies. I was only at the expo for one day but got a chance to attend some sessions, check out the booths, get some freebies, and catch a part of the Wednesday keynote. Tim O’ Reilly (Founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media Inc) shared his thoughts on the industry along with a poem, Max Levchin (Founder of Slide) took part in a conversation with Charlene Li of Forrester Research, and Amit Mital of Microsoft introduced a video of Live Mesh. Some of the presentations I attended included Web Site Psychology, Best-kept secrets to SEO, and Children of Flickr: Making the Massively Multiplayer Social Web. There were plenty of sessions held each day and the ones I attended were pretty decent overall.

Yahoo! booth promoting the Developer Network and Open Social platform that includes MyBlogLog, FireEagle, and SearchMonkey.

Google booth which supposedly did not allow photographs of Google employees presenting and demo-ing nothing.

Etelos, a web application provider, provided a cool airplane simulation lounge area.

Octpoz, an online collaboration tool company, gave away Octopus plush from Ikea.

Two of the limited booth girls at the Web 2.0 Expo were from Jaduka, which provided web-integrated communication tools.

After the Web 2.0 expo that day, there was a South Park crawl event where eleven companies sponsored after parties with food and drinks in the South Park area of San Francisco but I will cover that in another post. Stay tuned!
