Last Friday, Greg Narain of Social Roots and I hosted the first Web two dot oh Bubble-Free Bar Crawl in SF. Think of it has Barcrawl 2.0 – same intentions as traditional bar crawl, but with the people behind everything Web 2.0.

What is it you ask?

The Bubble Free Barcrawl is a celebration of our sacrifice – and we hope to make this a regular binge. The event was created for everyone toiling late at night to launch their own startup to bring out the next online social application, network, or bub.blicio.us blog, whether or not they’re acquired by Yahoo or Google. Most importantly, it’s a time for everyone to bring all those who are supporting them out for a good time, while also having the opportunity to network (and drink) with like-minded peers.

While we only focus on the lavish, over-the-top tech parties and events here at bub.blicio.us, I decided to include the BFBC here because it is demonstrative of the undercurrent flowing beneath the new tech movement in Silicon Valley. Facebook, friendster and Myspace aren’t the only social networks. Events such as STIRR, SFBeta, SF and Silicon Valley NewTech Meetups, SF Win, and SF Tech Sessions, are bringing the industry together – and it’s only helping everyone succeed (hopefully together).

Back to the BFBC. The Crawl focused on the emerging tech corridor in downtown SF – near our office in the LookSmart building on 2nd and Townsend.

The crawl started at the Web 2.2 Conference. Beers and wine were served courtesy of BlueWhale Labs and served as a nice appetizer to what lay ahead.

We then moved on to Momo’s, where we instantly consumed the entire bar. Even though we gave them a heads up that we were coming by, they had no idea what hit em.

James Yu of BuzzShout

We fully intended on hitting Nova, Bacar and House of Shields, but judging by the madness at stop #2, we realized that there was no way we were going to make it.

Momos turned out to be a blast, and we wound up staying there for at least 2 hours instead of the allotted 45 minutes.

By the time we were done with Momos, the crowd had grown to 80+. It was time to move on, and indeed we did. Except, instead of going to our intended stop, we decided to head to 21st Amendment on 2nd street.

Then it was on to Thirsty Bear…
