As a member of the selection committee for the Upcoming Under the Radar Conference, The Business of Web Apps: Where the Web Goes to Work, I am responsible (along with the rest of the team) for actively evaluating nominated companies for inclusion in the official event.

One of the finalists we’re currently evaluating is Orgoo, a Los Angeles-based startup that is currently in Private Beta.

Orgoo is positioning itself as a personal communications dashboard, where every tool you need to communicate is organized and integrated together in one place online, including IM, email, video mail/chat, SMS and more.

The company enjoyed some initial attention from VentureBeat, TechCrunch (it was a TechCrunch40 company), and Webware.

Co-founders Sean Rad and Shahzad Tiwana, students at USC, started the company two years ago. Michael Kantor, who was on the founding team of InfoSpace, was brought on as chief executive.

Orgoo can handle five of the most popular IM clients, along with a handful of Web mail providers including Gmail, .Mac, Yahoo and Microsoft’s Hotmail. It also supports any POP of IMAP email account. The service saves your passwords to simplify the login process, so every time you log in to Orgoo, it will pull in each and every account.

Orgoo aims to hit a sweet spot as the tools that we use to communicate with different factions of contacts continues to only expand.
