If you ever wanted to distill the value of Twitter in order to explain to your friends and contacts why they should join you online, this is it.

Courtesy of Lee and Sachi LeFever of The CommonCraft Show, there’s a clever 2.5 minute video that brilliantly surmises why people use Twitter, but more importantly why Twitter is “the” catalyst for a new form of micromedia and the new glue that binds us together.

“What are you doing?”

It’s one of the most frequent questions we ask and are asked.

Think about the answers you most often provide…as the video says, “Real life happens in between emails and blog posts.” I’d also add, in between phone calls, IMs, text messages, and seeing people in person.

Twitter allows you to paint a picture of who you are 140 characters at a time. In turn, you can see a new side of your friends and colleagues and learn more about them.

It’s just a new way to stay connected to your social graph. And, it’s only going to become more pervasive.
