Burberry Connecting Trench Coat Lovers

by Allison Bethurem on November 13, 2009

trench1Fashion labels across the board are diving head first into social media to boost their brand awareness across the web, and Burberry just stepped up to the plate with a new social network aimed to connect Burberry trench coat fans and lovers.

The site, The Art of the Trench, is stacked with images upon images of people in their coveted Burberry trenches. It’s so amazing to see the broad range of Burberry wearers, young and old, hip and classic scattered on the main page.  It almost makes the thought of owning one not as far off in the distance and one would imagine!

Most of the existing series of images on the site were taken by Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, who I have mentioned before and just adore! But Burberry wants everyone to get involved so they have teamed up with Facebook, where any and all photographers and trench coat lovers can participate and upload their favorite images of the coat. Burberry will go through those submitted images and select the best ones to add to the site, encouraging comments and sharing directly via Facebook connect.trench2

If you’re a history buff, take a few minutes to scroll through the history of the Burberry trench coat section and watch the  coat transform from the looks of classic Sherlock Holmes to cutting edge Kate Moss.

Kudos to Burberry for bringing the classic trench coat into the realm of social media in the most stylish and elegant way!

The Time Has Come!

by Allison Bethurem on September 22, 2009

The crispy abeyonce-ruffle-trenchir, the deep and rich colors and pumpkin spice lattes are here… its fall and I couldn’t be MORE excited! Even though our weather’s in the 80’s, 90’s even 100’s this week and people are still out and about in their summer maxi dresses, I thought I’d start my ‘I love fall’ celebration on this lovely  first ‘official’ day of fall, and share my thoughts on three staples all of us ladies MUST have or seek this season. Trench coat, boots and scarf.

Ok, ok… I know that’s so boring and of course everyone knows that trenches, boots and scarves have been fall wardrobe staples forever, BUT I came across some goodies that allow you to mix these bad boys up so they’re new, refreshing and oh-so- diva!boots2

The trench coat this season, is taking on a whole new feminine look. Burberry trenches will always be classic and amazing, but for some reason, taking that starched collar and hard edges and replacing it with a more delicate ruffled trim is so pretty and dainty I want to just wrap myself in one and skip away.  Beyonce (I heart you Beyonce!!) is seen like the diva she is wearing this fabulous ruffled tan trenchscarves1, and you can get a similar version in black from Bergdorf’s. I’ll start saving my pennies…

Boots come in all sorts of sizes, shapes, colors, heights… it’s endless. Last year, it was all about the bootie. This year, my cup of tea is the over-the-knee boot. Can these models’ legs look any longer? These thigh-high boots bring you height, length and trim a bit here and there which we all want on occasion! My ‘wish list’ pick for anyone who wants to make me smile the biggest smile I’ve ever had, would be these camel color over-the-knee ‘Twiggy’ boots from Joie… I’m a size 38, FYI. :)

Last is my favorite accessory that I wear almost year round, the scarf. This fall, set aside your small, dainty scarves and wrap yourself in an over-sized shawl or scarf that engulfs your neck so you’re sure to block out any bit of cold air. There’s nothing like snuggling up in a scarf to embrace the weather outside, and it can’t help to look fabulous when you do! These scarves can be found anywhere really, in prints, solids and different fabrics, check out the variety and cheap deals at Bluefly for this fall!

I’ll check in throughout the season with more goodies I find out and about for fall 2009, but thought I’d start with a few of my favorites to share… now, time to check my bank account and see what I can splurge on! ;)
