Flickr has finally joined the party for seamlessly connecting and sharing pictures directly to Twitter. Up until now, Twitpic and yfrog have dominated the Twitter stream for pictures, simply because they provided a tremendously easy system for snapping and uploading pictures to Twitter from mobile devices.

While I’m an avid photographer, I am not however, an avid camera-phone shutterbug. Up until recently, if I were so inclined to proactively share an image from my Flickr Pro account, I would do so manually. However, an age-old feature within Flickr has finally received a long overdue update, the ability to not only “blog this” image, but also “tweet it.”

Now, simply clicking on the “blog this” button above the image, you can now connect your Twitter account in addition to your blog. In doing so, it takes you to another window where you have roughly 120 characters remaining to frame the tweet. Flickr automatically provides a shortened “flic.kr” URL and embedds it into your Tweet to save time and effort.

As I was returning from the DEMO09 conference held in Palm Desert, California, I was struck by the beauty of the blue skies I was leaving behind for the rain that would greet me in Silicon Valley.

The flight turned into a photographic journey as the weather transformed along the way. However, I was not welcomed by the showers that were anticipated, instead, I was met with sunshine and parting rain clouds that hovered above Northern California, creating a dramatic backdrop worth sharing.

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story…

San Francisco @Night

The other night, I co-hosted the Bi-Coastal Birthday Bash for Julia Allison & Randi Zuckerberg in San Francisco with Sarah Lacy, and Dave Morin. The night was clear, still, warm and intimately lit by the city lights and the moon. I was inspired to take a detour to and from the party to capture a memento of the night.

I’ve been traveling quite a bit lately and will continue to do so as I hit the road in support of the new book written with Deirdre Breakenridge, Putting the Public Back in Public Relations.

The views that I’ve enjoyed are captivating and inspiring. I’ve started a new series of photographs as I travel in planes, trains, and automobiles to share those views with you. Enjoy.

An Evening in New York, Through Pictures

by Brian Solis on November 11, 2008

by Brian Solis

I’m in New York, preparing for this evening’s Ignition hosted by Microsoft Bizspark and TechSet. Make sure to RSVP here, it’s free and a can’t miss event.

I arrived yesterday in NYC towards the latter part of the evening. The night was too beautiful to not capture. It glowed with a soft radiance of the lights reflecting off the low hanging clouds, which created a hauntingly romantic setting.

The Dream Hotel also is a setting in of itself. I didn’t have to leave the hotel for this photo walk.

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story…
