The 2009 Tasty Awards are coming to San Francisco January 14.  Featuring some of the best culinary and fashion arts of 2009 from television, film and the web.

Realizing that food, drink, fashion and design are all a dominate factor in video and television viewership, they did not have an award for their own achievements until 2008 at the New Media Tastemakers Summit.

The Tasty awards will showcase some of 2009′s best achievements in food, wine, and style programming.  Online, televised, mobile or cinema, celebrity or self proclaimed, everyone has an opportunity to win.

Hosted by food and travel television star Zane Lamprey, the show features a star-studded lineup of food and fashion TV celebrities.

Winners of the Tasty will be announced on January 14, 2010 at an exclusive red carpet awards show in San Francisco at the Sundance Kabuki.  Select portions of the show will be filmed for a televised broadcast to be aired in February 2010 to millions of households.

Last year Brian Solis attended the NewTeeVee event in San Francisco and he was able to sum up his experiences quite nicely using one word…WOW!

So what is NewTeeVee Live?

NewTeeVee Live is a conference devoted to online video and seeks to answer the question of “what are the possibilities?”

Here is what Brian had to say about the NewTeeVee event last year:

“Most of the conference sessions were pretty incredible, insightful, and helpful for understanding the two views that separate traditional industry and new “new” media. Yes, new media has been part of Hollywood since the 90’s, but with Social Media propelling a new generation of stars, we’re witnessing not only an evolution in the creation and discovery of talent, but also a entirely new platform and industry that enables people to control their own destiny with or without the help of traditional power players.”

So before I go any further let me first mention that all of our wonderful readers get $200 off of the registration price! To use the discount just use this page to register.

With the all star lineup of speakers this year NewTeeVee Live promises to be an incredible event.

Brian Solis is keynoting a free event tomorrow in Chicago. The New Media Revolution: How Arts Organizations Can Thrive in the Digital Age is presented tomorrow from 8:45 am to 12:15 pm by the Chicago Community Trust. The half-day event features experts with relevant experience who can help guide your arts (or non-profit) through the sometimes intimidating world of social media.

The event is rather jam-packed, including Brian’s keynote, 2 panels of some rather well-known Web 2.0 names/organizations, and a closing session with Kara Walsh, CEO of Metromix, on how newspapers are entering the digital age. (I’d love to hear that. Our local Cincinnati paper is having problems entering the digital age.)

The event is free and is taking place at the Chicago Cultural Center on Randolph Street. Registration is limited to two registrants per organization. No registrants will be accepted day-of, so sign up now if you’re in Chicago.

And don’t forget, you can join the Tweetup tonight at Crimson Lounge and meet a lot of the folks who’ll be in attendance at the seminar.

This article has been brewing in my mind for five years but it just kind of sat there, not taking shape, only growing larger in substance. Two blog posts this week have kicked my ass in to gear to finally get initial thoughts down on (e)paper.

Steve Rubel, prominent blogger and, dare I say, PR person, started it off with this. Then Arrington followed up with this.

Both completely reinforce what I’ve long believed:

PR has a branding crisis.
