href="http://blog.networksolutions.com/2009/what-does-marc-benioff-really-have-to-say-about-the-cloud-at-dreamforce-2009/" target="_blank">Salesforce Chatter, the new platform will help companies build social enterprise applications and enable the 135,000 native applications to instantly be social as well.

It was yesterday morning when the Salesforce.com Chairman & CEO Marc Benioff took the stage at the Dreamforce conference and announced proudly that things were changing at the company. With this new addition, companies will be able to gain a new insight into what’s happening in their communities and around the world. Now integrated into their own CRM, companies are going to be able to take brand monitoring and tracking using social media to a whole new level. And this is all done in real-time. Yeah, that’s right…there is no lag or any delay. All the activity generated through Salesforce Chatter will be in real-time.

What will we get as a result of subscribing to Salesforce Chatter? Basically we’re going to be able to control our own social channel. Customers will be able to securely collaborate all in real-time with the help of profiles, status updates, feeds, groups, social apps, social content, sharing models, Twitter & Facebook, and even through a mobile option. Like how PayPal opened up their development API during their inaugural PayPal X conference, it seems that Salesforce.com is doing the same by allowing companies, vendors and/or individuals create their own applications off of the Salesforce platform. And Salesforce.com is willingly giving access and even tools to help, such as developer toolkits for Google, Facebook and Twitter.

Benioff will talk more about this new revolution at Salesforce.com at the TechCrunch Real-Time CrunchUp on Friday, but it was mentioned that this will all be available in 2010 and if you’re not getting it as part of a bundled package, you could expect to sign up for the Chatter Edition which will run you around $50 per user/month and includes Salesforce Chatter, Current and access to their development website, Force.com.

Here are some photos from the keynote:

<a
