One of the first events taking place during the first night of the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas was hosted by Intel at the Palazzo Hotel that allowed the public to sit down and meet a group of evangelists they called “Intel Insiders”.

Complete with a photo booth and props, flowing libations and frequent hors d’œuvres streaming through the Sushi Samba restaurant, we were greeted with some old familiar faces and even got to meet some new ones. What was pretty surprising and an honor was the chance for people to meet one of the state of California’s candidates for Attorney General, Chris Kelly – the Chief Privacy Officer at the social networking giant, Facebook. But other famous names also made an appearance, including Social Media Club’s Chris Heuer & Kristie Wells, Internet famous lifestreamer Sarah Austin, host of Social Media Hour Cathy Brooks, vlogger Justine Ezarik (aka iJustine), TechCrunch’s Daniel Brusilovsky and several others.

In its second year, the Intel Insider program was created to bring certain individuals to the table to help act as an advisory board for the company on matters of social media and extending the brand. The current Intel Insiders are:

  • Cathy Brooks
  • Daniel Brusilovsky
  • JD Lasica
  • Erin Kane
  • Corvida Raven
  • Mia Kim
  • Steve Paine
  • Brian Solis
  • Tom Foremski
  • Frank Gruber
  • Justine Ezarik

The bub.blicio.us crew attended Startup SF to catch all the fun and festivities and was lucky enough to snag an interview with Justine Ezarik (iJustine).

Our guest reporter, Allison Bethurem, chatted with the internet star about what’s new and her participation in the Sporelebrity contest held by Spore. You can check out Justine’s creature over at the Sporelebirty gallery. The winner gets $15,000 for a charity of their choice; Justine’s is the Frozen Pea Fund which we previously wrote about here.

Go vote! Oh, and watch the interview too. :)

At the 2nd bi-monthly StartupSF event, Brian Solis gave an informative presentation on Conversational PR for Startups. It was held in the office of Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe in downtown San Francisco and started off with brief demos from Mosio, Nirvino, and Inveneo. The event was sponsored by Mashable and Bub.blicio.us and was co-hosted by ServePath/GoGrid and Orrick. Similar to a lot of other events in the bay area, StartupSF brings people from different industries and fields together to promote networking in the world of Web 2.0 and Startups. The best thing in my opinion about this event is that it is a non profit organization where all proceeds go to charity. This month, the proceeds went to Inveneo. The cool thing about Inveneo is that they bring solar powered computers to underdeveloped countries where using a solar powered computer can actually be more cost efficient than using electricity.

About Mosio – “Mosio is a mobile question and answer community enabling you to text any question from your phone and have it answered by real people. Harnessing the power of helpful people, mobile technologies and the internet, Mosio gives users access to information anywhere.”

Nirvino
About Nirvino – “Nirvino is, simply, the easiest way to find great wine. Our innovative technology combines wine reviews and ratings from print, online, and broadcast wine critics into one score. Get all of the information you need to make an informed purchasing decision with just one click. If the Nirvino Rating says a wine is great, look no further!”
