A couple of weeks ago, the entire “Vayner-nation” was treated to a real delight as Gary Vaynerchuk, host of WineLibrary.tv and co-founder of Vaynermedia, hosted a live-taping of his widely popular podcast right in the heart of South by Southwest. As an added bonus to those in attendance, Vaynerchuk had Brian Solis, author of the new book “Engage” and principal of FutureWorks PR, on the set to help taste and grade several variations of champagne. I was fortunate enough to be there with a camera on hand and you can view the entire live recording in the above video or on WineLibrary.tv.

Taped live at the offices of PGi, Vaynerchuk and Solis truly got the crowd behind them and interactive. From random hoots and hollers to questions being tossed to Vaynerchuk, this was definitely one lively program. It all started out with Solis promoting his new book Engage which is out in stores now and available directly on Amazon. Four champagne bottles later and it’s time to open up the other bottles and give the audience a sip of the good stuff. Those in the audience included Jeff Jarvis, Frank Gruber, Dave Mathews, Wm. Marc Salsberry, Sloane Berrant, Darren Rowse, Jesse Thomas, Leslie Bradshaw, Nick O’Neill, Leora Israel, Peter Corbett and many others.

Gary Vaynerchuk Book Signing SF

Tonight, the San Francisco Bay Area was treated to the arrival of wine expert and author of the new book Crush It, Gary Vaynerchuk. If you don’t know Gary, here’s basically what he’s famous for:

For several years now, Vaynerchuk has helped grow his family business into a multi-million dollar yearly business dealing in wine. He’s the host of Wine Library TV, a renowned keynote speaker at most tech and social media conferences, co-founder of Vaynermedia, Cork’d, and is also involved in Obsessed.tv. And he’s heavily involved in social media and always on the lookout to help people move beyond their daily lives and do what they’re passionate about…hence the name of his book: Crush It.

In this nearly 40 city tour, Vaynerchuk is heading out to meet his fans and to promote the success of Crush It which has just been placed on the bestseller’s list in the New York Times & Wall Street Journal. Fans that attended were treated to hearing insights from Vaynerchuk about why he wrote the book and even got to ask him questions about how they could release their passion and go out and become successful like him.

I’ve long promised to start shooting and publishing interviews with those whom inspire me. While this isn’t the official debut of this imminent series, it is a representation of what’s possible. In fact, once I complete the writing for the next book, I will place the video series on an accelerated path to production.

Nonetheless, Gary Vaynerchuk of WineLibraryTV has written a new book, Crush It, which will hit the market in mid October. While I was in New York recently, Gary and I met up to discuss his new book as well as “Putting the Public Back in Public Relations,” my new book with Deirdre Breakenridge.

It’s always wonderful catching up with Gary and I look forward to doing so again soon.

Gary signed a copy of my book and once his new book is released, we’ll have him sign and send a copy over so that we can create a contest of sorts to give both away to one lucky contestant.

Stay tuned…

words and pictures by Brian Solis

Gary Vaynerchuk rocks! This is one of my favorite pictures of him…

It’s a little late, but in this case, late is definitely better than never…

Gary Vaynerchuk is amazing and one of those truly special people in life that we’re all better off for knowing.

Garyvee was recently in town celebrating a very special milestone, his 500th episode of WineLibraryTVCrushPad in San Francisco hosted the momentous taping at its San Francisco crushing and storage facility. And, since they were pulling together the local wine and geek communities, they also invited a series of incredible wineries to keep our glasses filled in  celebration of Gary and his achievements.

Congrats Gary, you deserve everything you’ve worked so hard to earn! You’re a inspiration to us all!

I’d also like to thank Erik Kastner who was kind enough to lend me his camera that night as my battery gave out shortly before arriving.

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story:
