A couple of weeks ago I was invited to preview the latest device coming from the best and brightest minds at Nokia. This time it wasn’t a new phone, but rather Nokia’s foray into the mini-laptop scene. During my hour long conversation, I got a chance to take a look at the Nokia Booklet 3G, one of the best netbooks that I think is out there to date.
With over 12 hours of battery life, this slick looking laptop comes equipped with the latest operating system from Microsoft: Windows 7. The Booklet 3G is apparently AT&T’s response to Verizon partnering with Dell to bucket their Dell Mini laptops with their mobile Internet service – a smart move. This laptop is pretty stylish and comes in at 19.9 mm thin and also three distinct colors: black, ice white and azure (blue).
What impressed me about this laptop over the Dell Mini was the near-full QWERTY keyboard which made typing and blogging pretty simple and natural. The screen is built to handle high-definition videos and also contains a built-in webcam. Not only that, but the Booklet 3G also supports GPS and bluetooth technology, not to mention in-built WLAN and WWAN-enabled connectivity to the Internet through wi-fi, where available.
Granted netbooks are not customizable, the Booklet 3G is not excluded from this policy. It comes equipped with a 120 GB hard drive and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. You won’t have to worry about a lot of noise emanating from the laptop either since it includes fan-less technology.
Scheduled for release in November 2009, this netbook will be sure to help in the productivity of those always on the go. Combined with the AT&T mobile Internet service, the Booklet 3G will be available through Best Buy and/or AT&T stores for a price of either approximately $300 with a service contract or around $600 without contract. Be sure to contact any participating stores to get exact cost information and to test out the new Nokia Booklet 3G.
