At the Startup2Startup dinner last Thursday, organizer Dave McClure, also of Founders Fund and 500 Hats, produced what I would say was one of the best Startup2Startup events to date. McClure brought together two heavyweights to duke it out over whether or not Apple is evil and becoming “Big Brother” among startups and platform companies.

In one corner we had heavyweight contender Jason Calacanis, founder and CEO of Mahalo, and in the other corner, the incumbent Guy Kawasaki, co-founder of and founding partner and entrepreneur-in-residence at Garage Technology Ventures.

Calacanis tossed his hat into the ring with a recent post titled The Case Against Apple–in Five Parts, which caused quite a stir. Calacanis restates his position in this pre-fight, I mean pre-debate, video interview, where McClure referees Calacanis and Kawasaki as they warm up for the big event.

And if you want to watch the main event match between Calacanis and Kawasaki, on Tuesday afternoon, 9/8,  go to Startup2Starup’s YouTube channel to watch the entire showdown.

I love how Guy took it home with “How much money have you raised for Mahalo?”.
