Don't get me wrong, the whole point of this post was that we need to go with the flow. I've seen other stealth startups however working on interesting things with RSS that will cross the line. And yes, I feel for them as entrepreneurs. But, the Web is a focus group and perception is everything. Personally I feel they caved unnecessarily. I too hope they continue to innovate and I also looking forward to what's next.

Hey Louis, it’s not “exposing” a dark side as a product, it’s giving us a glimpse of some of the things that other companies have done and will do using RSS. You have two entrepreneurs looking for a way to share feeds with friends and engage. There's no trickiness. No spoofing. Full attribution. It must have been heart-breaking for them to see all the aggressive reactionary discussion on the Web over this, from people who have likely never logged into the service. Now that they have changed, to reduce the flames headed their way, hopefully they aren't so shy as to stop innovating. I hope they keep going, and look forward to more.

It’s hard to see how Shyftr “exposed the dark side of RSS”.
