Loic Le Meur’s Seesmic closed a $6 million Series B round four months after closing a previous $6 million Series A round that included just about everyone on the Web all star roster. The Series B was co-led by Omidyar Network and Wellington and Partners. Pierre Omidyar, founder of ebay, also joins the board.
Here’s a list from the Series A-round, just to give you an idea of why Seesmic will ensure that video conversations blaze a trial in the new Web economy:
* Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis.
* Michael Arrington – Founder, TechCrunch
* Steve Case – Co-Founder and former CEO and Chairman, AOL
* Jeff Clavier – Managing Partner, SoftTech VC
* Ron Conway – Early investor, Google
* Steve Garfield – Pioneering video blogger
* Dan Gillmor – Director, Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship
* Reid Hoffman – Founder, LinkedIn
* Michael Parekh – Managing Director, Goldman Sachs
* Mark Pincus – Co-Founder and former Chairman and CEO, SupportSoft
* Ariel Poler – Founder and former CEO, IPRO and Topica
* Jeff Pulver – Chairman and Founder, Pulver.com
* Martin Varsavsky – Founder, FON

Originally described as the Twitter for video, Seesmic has evolved into so much more. It’s now defining the standard for video conversations, threads, and comments across the social web.
The company recently acquired Twhirl, a third-party app for viewing and updating Twitter. Perhaps equally as important, Seesmic has garnered significant momentum in the blogosphere by enabling bloggers to add “video comments” to their existing structure of text-based discussions.
UPDATE:
Loic Le Meur discusses the investment/
Dennis Howlett interviews Loic regarding the new round of financing…
“Getting someone like Pierre to help you has nothing to do with money Dennis. I did not need the money, but I really wanted him on board. What he and Eric bring is worth the dilution.”
According to the Dennis’ interview, LeMeur discussed using the financing to become a global brand, but also is focusing on:
1. increasing development on mobile
2. getting early internationalization
3. growing their platform
