Yesterday’s Lunch 2.0 was held at Powerset in San Francisco. This was actually my first time seeing their website demo. There is so much hype and talk about this company that I was not really sure what to expect. Ideally the concept is a very challenging one in the consumer market because there is so much indexing that needs to happen for a search to really retrieve what you are looking for. From watching the demo, I am not really sure whether this will be a successful search engine or not but it is definitely something worth keeping an eye on. The company is hiring a lot of people and they plan on growing their datacenter to tens of thousands of servers soon. If the VCs are willing to invest so much money in this company, I assume it will be a search engine worth trying out.

There were booths setup to demo one part of their website. Scott Prevost of Powerset was on hand to type in queries for people but did not allow anyone to type in their own queries.
