Gizmodo is running a very interesting article that links a new Apple patent application with the much-rumored subnotebook and a new docking station. This isn’t any ordinary docking station however, it’s a widescreen iMac shell with a side-loading slot intended to host a notebook.

Is this real? Who knows. But it is very creative to say the least.

As one commenter points out, the subnotebook has been rumored to not include a multimedia drive, yet the drawing reveals a DVD/CD slot.
