Holiday

The rain could not stop the Tech Glitterati from arriving at the Merchants Exchange Building’s Julia Morgan Ballroom on 265 California Street. This year, the Second Annual Startup Holiday Soiree branched out to include Women 2.0 and Girls In Tech. This fortified the idea that the community is one that embraces comradery here in Silicon Valley’s Startup scene. It was evident by the attendance of the startups with their teams and the significant VIP’s (who came in droves) proved that STIRR can not only throw a grandiose endeavor, it gives an aura of refinement and sophistication that entrepreneurs deserve.

Sanford Barr, Sean Ness, and Dan Arkind have outdone themselves. The amazing organization of guests and kind hearted sponsors benefitted as well by mingling with the big personas that attended such as Robert Scoble and Brian Solis. The special details that kept on coming throughout the night were hors d’oerves from Chef Paul, Lavay Smith performing, and magician Robert Strong. It was obvious that everyone enjoyed their evening with these special touches that were promised and delivered by the thoughtful men of STIRR. Gold Sponsors Felicis Ventures, Gabriel Venture Partners, and Sun Microsystems made this event possible and I for one appreciate their support. After a night like last night, I would have to go way back to my college Prom in Manhattan to compare the venue.

Wilmer Hale LLP was the Silver Sponsor and other companies that had tables in the Bar area included Bottlenotes and Charles Chocolates. Both had decadent samples to offer a more than eager bunch of foodie enthusiasts. Pandora unveiled a screen that showcased their Music Genome Project. I even got to meet Everitt, founder of a non-profit site called Helluvajob.com. It offers a unique interface on promoting freelance jobs. The site is a delight to use and looks quite pleasing. Many of my Bubblicious colleagues were also there to partake in the festivities (and we should all look forward to reading their accounts too). Pictures to come soon…
