While I don’t mind flying too much, I’m not a great fan of a lot of airports. I feel like I’ve wasted a good portion of my life connecting through Atlanta-Hartsfield, for example, where people flow like salmon upstream. I’m also not a giant fan of our current security system, pulling out my mini-liquids, my laptop, my shoes, my coat (it’s cold here), and more. I’m all discombobulated by the end of it. (I know, I know – I should get Clear.) In fact, I get on a plane bright and early tomorrow morning, heading for Las Vegas.

So I was tickled to find, via Boing Boing OffWorld, an iPhone game called Jetset, created by Persuasive Games. In the game, you are a TSA agent, clearning passengers. You get to search their baggage and person for prohibited items. It’s entertaining because, like real-world airport security, the rules change randomly, so you need to keep up. In my first round, plastic bins, pants, shirts, and shoes were all prohibited and then intermittently allowed. See, it’s funny.

The game takes it one step further, though. It has locations for 100 airports programmed into the game. You have to be physically inside one – or really close – for the game to recognize it. When you play the game inside one of the airports, you can unlock special souvenirs. Similar to Frequent Flyer programs, these souvenirs come in different medallion levels of silver, gold, and platinum.

To add interactivity, the game connects with a Facebook application. You can share your souvenirs, give them as gifts, or redeem them for game-related prizes.

Jetset costs $4.99 from the iTunes store.
