We used blackberry devices previously, and while i love the droids applications and gps capabilities we both find the device so frustrating as to be almost unusable for normal phone and email purposes. Here's what we hated about the droids:
- Horrible virtual keyboards That are prone to errors
- Awkward physical keyboards
- Inferior call quality compared to blackberry
- Dropping calls because of accidentally brushing the screen
- In gmail the archive button is too close to the physical back button Which resulted in accidentally archiving active email
- Horrible horrible horrible battery life. I used my blackberry constantly when i used it before And charged it on a nightly basis. But with the droid i have to turn off services in order to even squeeze half a day out of it.For me call quality, dropped calls and battery life are the big failings of the Droid. I really love the device as far as applications go, but i would rather have a blackberry to have a good keyboard and good call quality. I would rather buy A separate gps device and an ipod touch or ipad if I want apps. I want a cell phone that doesn't lose power after a half day of intense use. With a good keyboard. And few dropped calls. The droid's battery use is a deal-breaker first off. Add in bad call quality, a clunky text input system, and for the price my money is going to go back to the blackberry. I will miss the Apps. But I won't miss the frustration of the Droid one bit.

While i agree with many of the things in the review about the droid, my wife and i will be taking ours back to the verizon store tomorrow. I have my video set to 30 minutes as well but it always saves to the internal memory. I was curious as to what settings you needed to change so it will store on SD card instead of the internal memory. It's pointless to take pics and video if I can't save it to my SD card. Thanks for the help.

I read in your review that you were able to store your 30 minute videos on your SD card. Now that I have service everywhere I go (unlike my last two years with AT&T), I am constantly tweeting, texting and emailing. I realize that might not be a good thing, but my ability to be connected has greatly increased. The keyboard makes everything easy for me and I have no problem finding free apps I like and need from the Android Marketplace. I can’t say that the Droid has changed the way I communicate. But it enhances my communications and allows me to communicate in ways I couldn’t with my iPhone. It always pulls me to an internet search when I say "call sam, mobile phone" or any variation I can think of.I really wish it was totally hands free in car mode but it should at least dial when I read verbatim the suggestion on the screen (replacing john doe with a contact of my own).*yes, Voice Dialer does work but this thing really should act like a hands free device in car mode.

Has anyone used voice search to place a call?
