New York may have the local high society hob nobbing in Central Park’s grounds at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on weekends but San Francisco has even higher aspirations at the de Young Museums’ Hamon Tower Observation floor with breathtaking views of Golden Gate Park and the Pacific Ocean. This late Wednesday evening would be the site of a landmark event that had a who’s who of Silicon Valley tech scene.

This is where I found myself along with the premier party of the GigaOm Show sponsored by Jangl.

Om Malik and Joyce Kim

The show’s primary host was busy ensuring that his guests had plenty of hors d’ourves and libations to kick back their raspy throats and enjoy themselves. The list of ‘dignitaries’ included some startup the dynamic Digg duo. We also had the gentlemen that spearheaded Revision3 joining the festivities.

Joyce Kim, the show’s co-host, had the brilliant idea of having the event at an ethereal venue fifty meters above the park. She definitely has high hopes for the GigaOm Show as a valuable source for technology gurus and Silicon Valley investor community. In fact, the show will have investors and other entrepreneurs as a platform to sound off their messages and in-depth insight similar to that of the Wall Street Journal Report with Maria Bartiromo but on demand via the Internet through Revision3’s TV network for the web.

Since Jangl sponsored the posh event, they may as well get the honor of getting the spotlight in this post. Jangl is a service that gives one the ability to call known people online, using one’s existing phone with no download, data plan, or computer required. Call anyone with Jangl only by knowing their email address without seeing sender or receivers’ phone numbers anywhere in the world. When speaking with Mathew Oliver of Jangl, he let out that the company has just completed and launched a Facebook version of their service which will give access to at another potential twenty five million from the Facebook community.

Jim Louderback
Revision3 is now headed by Jim Louderback, former editor in chief of PC Magazine. Jay Adelson, co-CEO of Digg, previously held the position. Revision3 prides itself with creating unique content which is created and produced by them. The GigaOm Show is just one of fifteen featured original programs of the production company. According to Revision3, their content focuses on a new audience that wants edgy, relevant, and in-depth entertainment that is easily distributed over different platforms such as iTunes, Odeo, and Bittorrent.

Kris Tate of Zooomr

Jonathan Abrams of Socialzr, Kristopher Tate of Zooomr, and Kevin Rose of Diggnation were all on deck enjoying the festivities. Tate who is the lead developer of Zooomr (which is live and in Beta) explained that the Zooomr service can not only organize photos, but helps find other people through photos that interest them, or people who are located within their local area. It is obvious that with guests in attendance of this gala event that Om Malik and crew are extremely focused in tapping into these bright entrepreneurial allstars in order to make their show a must see video channel.
