Fox Interactive Media invited special guests in the tech community to an exclusive Halloween Fiesta at Harlot Lounge on 46 Minna. Fox’s social networking property of MySpace is breathing down on the necks of Facebook. My hats off to FIM for really making the crowd feel special at a wonderful venue with great food (and the open bar doesn’t hurt).
This party was just another great way to bring attention to the larger social networking site as the news that Myspace and Google have signed a deal on Thursday, announcing that MySpace has joined the growing ranks of social networks that have committed to use its new platform for developers of applications for the sites as reported on Forbes. To make things even more interesting, I ‘googled’ MySpace in San Francisco and I got the address of 121 2nd Street as its office location. From the last party that Fox sponsored for the Web 2.0 Summit at the SF Museum of Modern Art, they were not going to announce their location until some time in December. Is the cat out of the bag?
My colleague Alex Ho took wonderful pictures of guys, gals, and ghouls. Fox even brought contortionists, dancers, and trapeze artists to perform in the club. This looked and felt like something out of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. With people from tech houses such as Organic, My-Currency, IAC, and StubHub, the party helps build more buzz about Fox and MySpace coming to town.
