Facebook Would Like to Introduce You to…Your Friends

Facebook has quietly rolled out an interesting feature that’s tucked away on the lower right-hand side of your “home” page.

It’s simply called “People You May Know” and is a way of reminding us that we may have friends or associates on Facebook that we may have forgotten or assumed were not online. And you know what, it works!

The new feature leverages social proximity across your social graph, as well as the graph of friends of friends, and recommends people that share the most common friends.

In my first pass, it listed dozens of people I assumed were already friends. This was a small, but valuable update for strengthening and improving my social graph.

they’ve been doing this for a while when you first sign up and have a couple of friends and have joined a network.

Nice to see it being implemented for everyone now.

they should use this like netflix recommends movies or amazon and show the percentage of compatibility, or the success rate of other people connecting with said person
