Tomorrow marks the start of the BlogHer conference in San Francisco and I’m rather unhappy that I’m not there. With the beginning of their conference, the BlogHer folks have some great news to announce. BlogHer has entered into a partnership with NBC Universal – in particular, iVillage, Oxygen.com, and BravoTV.com. It’s all part of Women@NBCU, which is NBC’s new female-oriented content and marketing area.

BlogHer content will be featured across the three web sites. With over 2200 blogs to choose from, BlogHer hopes this initiative will help raise the profile of its bloggers. In addition, the web sites will collaborate on joint advertising sales, which should increase earnings of bloggers participating in BlogHer’s ad network.

From NBCU’s perspective, they are gaining access to BlogHer’s large network of blogs and influential bloggers. As part of the deal, BlogHer gets a $5 million series B investment, financed by Peacock Equity, the joint venture between NBC Universal and GE Commercial Finance’s Media, Communications & Entertainment business, and returning investor Venrock, a venture capital firm.

This news comes in the same week that Procter & Gamble announced it will be looking to several influential mommy bloggers for product input. It looks like the women’s blogging movement is having a rather banner week. Congrats to BlogHer!
