Friday night, TechCrunch presented the 2nd annual Crunchies to a packed house at the Herbst theater in San Francisco. It was an evening where the Web community came together to celebrate, as a whole, the achievements and advancements made in the last year. But it was also a time to reflect on the past year’s progress, setbacks and what’s ahead in 2009.
Windows Live Mesh won for Best Technology Achievement and Microsoft’s Ray Ozzie and Dave Treadwell were there to accept the award. Ozzie had one of the best statements of the evening, which was “When we are in an environment with technological and environmental change, you have to focus on these new huge constraints, but also new opportunities for destruction or rebirth.”
And my other favorite quote of the night came from Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, who won the Best Startup CEO award and also picked up a second award for Best Overall Startup in 2008, when he said “be the next beacon of light.”
Everyone is anxious to see what 2009 will bring, but Friday night’s event was a time to reflect and celebrate. The Bub.blicio.us team was there and shares the evening with you through pictures (below).
