little-birdyIn a perfect world, lots of things would be different and everyone would work together, in unison, including PR practitioners and bloggers/reporters. The world, however, as we all know, is far from perfect, but there are programs like Peter Shankman’s HARO (Help a Reporter Out) which help guide the world of media into a somewhat cohesive and balanced system where both sides can happily work together without shredding the other to pieces and without walking on eggshells.

The fashion industry can be brutal, the caddy-ness, the cat fights and the cruel intentions all around can bring any upcoming fashion blogger or fashion PR newbee straight out of the beaming rays of Bloomingdales and thrown into the clearance bins at Big Lots*. But, like HARO, there is one ray of light that is helping the two worlds of fashion media balance and work together – the LittleBirdie.

The LittleBirde, founded by the Coveted’s Jennine Tamm, connects PR and fashion companies to Independent Fashion Blogger members, allowing bloggers to share what they’re working on and ask for tips where needed and in turn, allowing fashion PR and upcoming fashion companies to reply where relevant and get their client/brand out into the online fashion community.

I tried to apply to be a part of the LittleBirdie community and post queries for upcoming blog posts that  I want to work on for Bub.blicio.us. Jennine promptly and sweetly replied, thanking me, but letting me know that Bub.blicio.us is not fashion centric enough yet. I hope to work on that to add a bit of fashion flair to this blog through my own fashion opinions, advice and findings.

*note – don’t get me wrong, I love me some Big Lots, it just painted a pretty picture for what I wanted to say. :)
