Kevin Rose of Digg fame is smelling like roses with his latest charmer, Pownce. Revision3, for those that didn’t hear, just closed an $8 million round from Greylock.

Pownce is a project that Rose has been working for a few months with pals Leah Culver, Daniel Burka and Shawn Allen.

Per Kevin, “Pownce is a great way to send stuff to people you know. Add friends, then send them big files, invite them to upcoming events, share great links, and whip off a note to anyone, everyone, or just a few people.”

It seems to be a presence app (Twitter or Jaiku) meets file exchange (YouSendIt and Izimi) within invitations (Evite). Basically, Pownce lets you send plain text notes, URLs, files and event invitations — it also tracks RSVPs. Will write a more thorough review after we get access to the app.
